Face matching,on the guest's terms

Consent for one event, data kept in London, and a delete link on every page and email.

Built for the strictest privacy rules

Face matching is special-category data under UK GDPR. Event Faces is built around that, not bolted on.

Consent per event

Explicit consent on the event page, recorded with its wording, for that event only. Under-18s use the public photos.

Kept in London, then deleted

Face measurements stay in AWS's London region and are deleted after 7 to 90 days. The selfie is never stored.

Delete in one tap

Every page and email has a delete link. The face data, the gallery and any share links go at once.

The details

Who is responsible

The studio running the event is the controller of the guests' data. lemon.gallery processes it for them, and Amazon Web Services (Rekognition, London) does the matching as our sub-processor.

What is processed

A guest's selfie becomes a face measurement; so does each face in that event's photos. Matching measurements put a photo in that guest's gallery. The selfie image is discarded and never stored.

Lawful basis

Explicit consent under UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a), given on the event page before any selfie is taken, recorded with the wording and time, and as easy to withdraw as to give.

Keep period

The studio chooses 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days, counted from the event date. Then the face measurements, guests and matches are deleted automatically.

Deleting sooner

Every Event Faces page and email has a delete link. The studio can delete any guest, and turning Event Faces off deletes the event's face data at once.

Age

Guests must be 18 or over, and studios agree to use it only at events for adults. Anyone can browse the event's public photos instead.

What studios agree to

To tell the organiser before the event, to put up the signs and table cards with the consent notice, and to answer guests' requests about it.

Questions

Something else about your event?

Talk to us
What happens to guests' face data?

The selfie itself is never stored. A face measurement is kept for that one event in AWS's London region and deleted at the end of the keep period you choose, 7 to 90 days. Guests can delete theirs at any time from any page or email.

What does it cost?

You buy guests for each event before it starts, £0.25 a guest, from 50 guests. Lemon Live itself is part of the Solo plan and up, or an add-on of its own.

Who can see the photos?

With Event Faces on, a photo is private unless you make it public: only the guests in it and you can open it. You can mark any photo public for the live feed and the venue wall.
