What a Desktop Studio App Does for a Photographer
What a native desktop studio app adds for photographers beyond the browser: alt text written on your own computer, background work from the tray and a Lightroom bridge.
A desktop studio app gives your studio its own window and lets your computer do work a browser tab can't. Lemon Link opens your live studio in a native window on Mac and Windows, writes alt text for your photos with a small AI model on your own computer, and picks up work queued for it from the tray.
Your studio in its own window
The window loads the live web app, so it's always current. It's the same data and the same login as the browser, with nothing to sync. Like the browser, it needs a connection.
Alt text written on your computer
A small AI model on your computer writes alt text for your photos, free. The photo never leaves your computer; only the text is uploaded. It works one photo at a time at low priority and pauses when the battery is low.
Work that carries on without the window
From the tray, Lemon Link picks up jobs queued for your computer, such as alt text and your studio's Claude Code jobs if Claude Code is signed in. The Lightroom plugin 2.0 asks it for alt text as it publishes, and you can start an alt text run from your phone and get a notification when it's done.

What does a desktop studio app do that the browser can't?
Lemon Link writes alt text with a small AI model on your own computer, works from the tray with no window open, and gives the Lightroom plugin 2.0 alt text as it publishes.
Does the desktop app work without an internet connection?
No. It loads your live studio, so it needs a connection, the same as the browser. That's also why it's always current.
Is a desktop app different from using the website?
It shows the same studio with the same data. The difference is what your computer adds: a window of its own, local alt text, background work from the tray and a Claude panel.
